Danae Papadopoulou

Danae Papadopoulou (Thessaloniki 1996) is a greek choreographer and performer based in France. She began her journey in the world of dance by taking classes in classical ballet (vaganova) and in contemporary dance (limon, release and contact improvisation techniques). After her bachelor's degree in Greek Philology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki 2018) she did a Master in performing Arts (Grenoble University 2021) and she continued by following workshops with various artists (German Jauregui and Ultima Vez, Mark Tompkins, Anne Collod, Julies Desprairies, Dai Jian, Catherine Contour). She is especially interested in the dialogue between text, movement and human sciences, such as anthropology and linguistics. Her work focuses on the social and cultural origins of the body, as well as questions of identity and culture connected to its origins. She founded the artistic company Valitsa in Grenoble in 2021. In 2022, she co-created the PLAM (Platforme Artistique de Mutualisation) artistic platform with five young choreographers. Together they gained an Internship from the French Minister of Culture for the participatory research laboratory T.R.I.P. in collaboration with the choreographer Ivana Müller and the Pacifique CDCN of Grenoble for the season 2022-2023. She was selected by GRAME the CNCM of Lyon to join Lips Lab, a residency program for multidisciplinary performing artists on the theme of "New immersive narratives” for the 2023 edition. For the year 2024, she received the Culture Moves Europe grant to participate in the "Moving to Change" residency at Corte Ospitale in Italy. In 2025 she participated in the educational program Edition spéciale #9 for choreographers.
