Transmission of Greek traditional dances - For everyone
The company also runs introductory workshops in traditional Greek dances, open to all. This is an educational project linked to the company's current creation, ThRACES. These workshops pay particular attention to the concepts of transmission and collective memory. Through learning group dances from different regions of Greece, Danae Papadopoulou highlights the values of sharing and conviviality, at the heart of the festive spirit of these dance traditions. She focuses especially on the rhythms and popular songs of Thrace, in order to raise awareness of this region and spark an interest in its collective heritage, as well as in how to pass it on to future generations. These workshops also create a link with the performance currently being created and make dance accessible to a wider audience.
Transmission of Greek traditional dances - Professionals
During this workshop, the dancers will explore different choreographic compositional materials used in the creative process of the company's current piece, ThRACES.
This solo performance explores inherited gestures and their transformation through bodies seeking their connection to traditions and a fading gestural and sensory memory.
Among other things, the dancers will delve into fundamental movements from traditional Greek dances of the Thrace region and their deconstruction through a free and improvisational dialogue with contemporary dance.
Each participant will be invited to appropriate and transform the material presented, drawing on principles of play and composition that artists employ in their creative process.
